Our Work

Shashi Kiran Charitable Trust partnered with The MoonCatcher Project, based in the USA, to set up a reusable pad making unit in India. We started in 2018 and have helped thousands of girls to date.

What's in the kit

We produce reusable, eco-friendly menstrual pads that can be worn without underwear. The unique design and fabrication method was developed over years of user testing and refinement. The kits are designed to last for at least two years, limiting contribution to the 9,000 tons of menstrual waste generated annually in India.

How we do it

Raw materials for the menstrual kits are sourced locally, and the kits are manufactured at sewing centers that provide employment for local women.

How it works

Along with the kits, we run awareness programs to educate girls and women on reproductive health, body positivity, and menstrual hygiene management, dispelling myths and taboo around menstruation and encouraging open discussion.

Stories from the field

Our pads and programs provide a way for girls to stay in school while menstruating, giving them a greater chance of completing their education.
